This year’s PLS Leadership Summit’s theme is Be the Change and is focused around our value of Transformational Leadership. The Chapter Innovation Poster Session is an exciting way to show off what your chapter has done in the last year or so. It’s also a great way to get new ideas from other chapters and the alumni & faculty members that will attend!

To help your chapter put together the best abstract possible, our Committee wanted to share these 3 quick tips:

Pick Something Transferable

The best abstracts from the Chapter Innovation Poster Session are the ones that can be transferable to younger students, especially your incoming pharmacy students or newly inducted chapter members.

Picking a transferable project or workshop helps make sure that it’s reproducible by another chapter or another student group that would be interested in doing a similar project!

Gather the Data

Consider ways to assess the success of your chapter’s chosen project or workshop. This helps relay to other chapters and Session attendees how impactful your project was. Demonstrate impact by using a survey, interviews, counting number of patients or students effected, etc. Including this data in your abstract is very powerful!

Short and Sweet

Poster sessions are a great way to show off the step-by-step details of one’s project, but the abstract is a short and sweet preview of your chapter’s poster! Make sure that your chapter’s abstract has enough information to briefly summarize the entire program or workshop, from beginning to end. But take care that any extra details are left for the poster or verbally shared at the Session. For some abstract examples, check out the 2023 Chapter Innovation Poster Session webpage.

The 2023-2024 Programming Committee is so excited to read your chapter’s abstract! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Dr. Zach Krauss at zacharykrauss@cedarville.edu!
