McGuirt Hired as Junior Student Intern of Leadership Society

Phi Lambda Sigma, the Pharmacy Leadership Society, is excited to announce that Delaney McGuirt, PharmD Candidate at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Baltimore, has been hired as the Society’s new Junior Student Intern. Delaney is the current chapter president of the Beta Lambda Chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma and also serves as a Student Representative on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Council on Public Policy. She is involved in American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, Maryland Pharmacy Coalition, Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, and Rho Chi. Delaney’s previous experience as a national association management intern with ASHP and interest in leadership development and communications will be a welcomed addition to the National Executive Committee.  

Executive Director, Brandon Jennings, PharmD, BCACP commented, “We are so excited to welcome Delaney to our team!  She brings so much experience to us with her previous leadership positions within her school and within PLS at the chapter level.  I know she is going to be a wonderful addition to our team and is going to help us to continue to support our chapters and our members.”  Delaney will begin immediately and will be in the position until her graduation in the Summer of 2023.

Phi Lambda Sigma was established in 1965 to develop leadership qualities among pharmacy students and pharmacists and to recognize leaders in the profession.  The Society’s current mission is to recognize leaders in the profession, cultivate leadership development, and inspire transformational change.  The elected offices within the National Executive Committee also includes President: Michael Mueller, PhD (LECOM – Bradenton Campus); Immediate Past-President: Jordan Ballou, PharmD, BCACP (University of Mississippi); President-Elect: Anthony DeClue, PharmD (Medical University of South Carolina) Speaker of the House: Lamees Loubani, PharmD Candidate (University of Houston); Members-at-Large: Erin Ballentine, PharmD Candidate (Cedarville University) and Yihan Li, PharmD Candidate (University of Pittsburgh).  Appointed officers and staff members include Executive Director: Brandon Jennings, PharmD, BCACP (Abilyn Consulting, LLC, Winchester, VA); Associate Executive Director: Mary Euler, PharmD, FAPhA (West Virginia University); Senior Student Intern: Leigh Joyner, PharmD Candidate (University of South Carolina); and Treasurer: Jaclyn Cole, PharmD, BCPS (University of South Florida).
