Phi Lambda Sigma has adopted a Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence Policy, approved by the Board of Directors on August 18, 2026. The policy establishes clear expectations for how generative AI tools may and may not be used in preparing materials submitted to PLS, including applications, narratives, awards, and portfolios evaluated under the Universal Member Selection Process (USMP).
In short: AI can be a supportive tool for brainstorming, outlining, and polishing your writing, but the ideas, experiences, and reflections in your submission must be your own. Any use of AI in preparing an application must be disclosed using the standard disclosure statement included in the policy.
Collegiate and local chapters using the USMP are required to adopt this policy as part of their local application and review process.
