Bylaws Revisions

The Bylaws Committee proposed two revisions to the Bylaws surrounding chapter activity and House of Delegate voting proceedings:

  • PASSED: Upon charter receipt, chapters shall annually (1) submit a chapter report and (2) have a delegate and/or alternate attend the House of Delegates meeting. Failure to meet both criteria for two (2) consecutive years will lead to chapter charter review by the National Executive Committee and penalty up to charter revocation as decided by the National Executive Committee.
  • PASSED: The Borda Count method will be used to elect each officer. Delegates will rank candidates in order of preference, and points shall be assigned to each ranking. A delegate’s highest ranked candidate shall receive n-1 points, where n is defined as number of candidates. A delegate’s second choice shall receive n-2 points, and the same ranking will take place until the lowest ranked candidate on the delegate’s ballot; the lowest ranked candidate on the delegate’s ballot receives zero (0) points. For Members-at-Large, the two (2) candidates with the highest number of points are elected. For President-Elect and Speaker of the House, the candidate with the highest number of points is elected. In the case of a tie, a runoff election will occur. If less than three (3) candidates are running for office, a simple majority vote will elect the winner.
