Dr. Kristy Brittain has over 17 years of experience as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in hospital and community practice and has been teaching at the Medical University of South Carolina since 2008. She is currently a professor at MUSC, the Community-Based Residency Program Director, and is the MUSC coordinator for the pharmacy student Leader Academy program – all while she continues to be involved in PLS at a broader level.

Join us in congratulating the 2026-27 PLS Board of Directors! Here are a few words from them on why they decided to run and the great energy they will bring to the Society!

Michelle Weisman: I was encouraged to run after being surrounded by PLS leaders who supported me, challenged me, and helped me see my own potential. I am energized by this work which truly fills my cup, and stepping into this role felt like the right challenge.

Mackenzie Harris: One of my mentors encouraged me to run. After researching about the Member-at-Large position I realized this was an opportunity I would really enjoy and be able to make a difference through.

Jasmin Schaefer: Through my PLS involvement, I’ve seen how supportive, value driven leadership can empower others. I want to give back by supporting our members, fostering connection, and helping create opportunities that allow everyone to grow and lead in their own way.

Jaclyn Moreno: I applied to PLS to surround myself with diverse minds who are committed to growing as future leaders. As I conclude my term as President of the Gamma Xi Chapter, I felt called to serve our organization to help strengthen connection, mentorship, and leadership development for the next generation of pharmacist leaders within PLS.

Natalie Percival: I was encouraged to run for this position to challenge myself with a “big-L” leadership role and make a broader impact on the profession. I want to show new practitioners the importance of leadership early in their careers and inspire students to remain engaged post-graduation. This role provides the platform to create innovative initiatives, strengthen connections across generations, and advance PLS’s mission of cultivating leadership and empowering lifelong leaders.

Madeline Frellick: After serving as the PLS Speaker of the House last year, I was determined to remain involved with the Society into my professional career. My transition from student leader to resident has given me an understanding of the challenges new practitioners face in remaining connected to professional organizations, and serving as the New Practitioner MAL will allow me to help address that challenge.
