Charles C. Thomas Scholarship

Presented annually to one recipient for $1,000.

Purpose

The Charles C. Thomas Scholarship by Phi Lambda Sigma was established through and endowment made by Phi Lambda Sigma to the American Pharmacists Association Foundation to honor Charles C. Thomas, RPh, FAPhA, founder of Phi Lambda Sigma. Mr. Thomas is a 1965 graduate of the Auburn University School of Pharmacy. While a student at Auburn University, he founded Phi Lambda Sigma, the pharmacy leadership society to accomplish his vision in supporting leader development and recognizing leadership talent in student pharmacists and practitioners.

The scholarship recognizes student pharmacists who demonstrate exceptional leadership, academic achievement, service, and commitment to advancing the pharmacy profession, particularly through involvement in Phi Lambda Sigma and/or APhA-ASP.

Number of Awards & Recognition

One (1) recipient is selected annually to receive the Charles C. Thomas Scholarship. The recipient receives a $1,000 scholarship through the APhA Foundation Student Scholarship Program and will be recognized through Phi Lambda Sigma and APhA Foundation communications and programming. The recipient will also be recognized at the annual Phi Lambda Sigma Awards Ceremony and receive a commemorative award certificate from Phi Lambda Sigma.  

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements, including scholarship-specific criteria, are established and managed through the APhA Foundation Student Scholarship Program. Applicants are encouraged to review the official scholarship information and application materials for the most current eligibility requirements and submission expectations.  Additional eligibility criteria specific to the Charles C. Thomas Scholarship include:

  • Must be a member of Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS)
  • Proof of PLS membership must be submitted as part of the application (e.g., membership certificate or signed letter from a PLS Chapter Advisor)

Applications are reviewed and evaluated through the APhA Foundation Student Scholarship Program review process. Evaluation criteria and selection procedures are determined by the APhA Foundation and associated review committees.
