Committee Chairperson / Vice Chairperson Application 2025 - 2026

Phi Lambda Sigma is looking for highly interested candidates to lead our committees in tangible ways that will advance the work of the committees, the organization, and our profession. Committee Leaders are expected to actively participate in monthly BoD meetings (as well as leading monthly Committee meetings, according to position) and remain in close email communication with PLS staff and the rest of the BoD (i.e., emails checked daily).  In addition, it is important to note that Committee Leaders are not eligible to receive Awards that are funded and chosen by PLS Awards Committee, due to an unavoidable conflict of interest.
 
Committee Descriptions:
Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is primarily responsible for evaluating award nominations and providing recommendations for award recipients to the Board of Directors. Additionally, this committee is responsible for tracking and reporting awards trends, evaluating criteria and workflow for determination of awards, and implementing improvements to the awards submission and selection process.

Bylaws Committee: The purpose of the Bylaws Committee is to assess proposed amendments to the Society Bylaws, ensure chapter bylaw conformity to national standards, and serve as a resource to chapters requesting chapter bylaw review.

Chapter Development Committee

The Chapter Development Committee (CDC) is dedicated to strengthening the collegiate chapters of Phi Lambda Sigma. The committee seeks to support chapters and advisors in creating a consistent, unifying experience for all members. Additionally, this committee provides individualized development support for chapters and advisors upon request.

 
Communications Committee

The Communications Committee (Comm Comm) assists internal and external communication efforts of the Society. The committee members are made up of liaisons from each of the other Board committees; however, Chair and Vice Chair may choose to only serve on the Communications Committee only. The Communications Chair and Vice Chair will work closely with the Society’s Executive Director and Marketing Intern to share committee updates on the Society’s various digital platforms like our bimonthly newsletter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. 

International Affairs Committee:
The International Affairs Committee (IAC) serves the purpose of supporting and establishing PLS chapters outside of the United States. Members of the IAC will have the opportunity to engage in international partnership development, cross-cultural relationship building, and the advancement of pharmacy leadership at international conferences. Additionally, the IAC seeks to promote a global mindset for all PLS members.

Member Engagement Committee
The Member Engagement Committee serves to create and provide opportunities to engage both students and alumni members with the Society. Additionally, the member engagement committee will focus on developing an improved member-transition process upon graduation, with the goal of engaging recent graduates as they transition to alumni status. This committee is also responsible for maximizing our GiANT leader development investments.

Programming Committee:
The Programming Committee supports the organization’s direct-to-member events and leadership development opportunities produced by all Board Committees. This committee will ensure that all PLS-branded events and opportunities are in-line with our mission, vision, DEI mission statement, and support our strategic plan. This committee is directly responsible for the development and execution of annual programming such as the Leadership Summit, including theme, speaker recruitment and preparation, and delivery platform.

PLS Parliamentarian 2025-2026 Application

Phi Lambda Sigma is looking for highly interested candidates to lead our Society in tangible ways that will advance the work of the committees, the organization, and our profession. 

The Society has a wonderful think tank of persons with great ideas for our Society and our profession. In addition to the continued development of innovative ideas, we are looking for persons of action to help turn these ideas into reality. 

In an effort to allow our members more opportunities to serve on the international level, we are opening a formal application process for the appointed role of Parliamentarian.

 
The Parliamentarian position is a 2-year term. Responsibilities include:
– Serve as the Chairperson of the Bylaws Committee, leading monthly meetings
– Work in conjunction with the Speaker of the House to operate the PLS House of Delegates
– Attend and report monthly at Board of Directors meetings
– Remain in close email communication with PLS staff and the rest of the BoD (i.e., emails checked daily)
 
Required qualification:
– Professional Member of Phi Lambda Sigma
 
Desired qualifications:
– Committee leadership and/or nonprofit Board of Directors experience (within PLS preferred)
– Experience working in nonprofit operations
– Experience with Robert’s Rules of Order
– Strong written and verbal communication skills

PLS Student Intern Application

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic student intern who is eager to learn about the Society and assist with various activities.  The student intern will be a contractor of Phi Lambda Sigma and will have responsibilities to support the mission of the Society.  This individual will be working closely with the Executive Director, Associate Executive Director, Elected Officers and Appointed Committee Chairpersons to support the daily operations of the Society.

The newly hired student intern will sign a contract lasting approximately 18 months, which will likely last until the end of their next school year.

Website Management Intern
 
  • Great if you have experience with WordPress.
    Fulfill tasks sets out by the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director.
  • Update website and coordinate content with the social media & marketing intern.
  • Attend selected Board Committee meetings and take minutes.
Order & Membership Management Intern
 
  • Great position for Chapter Treasurers.
  • Fulfill tasks set out by the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director.
  • Gain experience in national organizations.
  • The student intern shall be committed to Phi Lambda Sigma’s mission and should have track record of exceptional teamwork experience.
     
    Specific requirements include:
    • An active collegiate member of Phi Lambda Sigma.
    • Eager to learn and work with various officers and committee within the Society.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Cloud, Canva, and various social media platforms.
    • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
    • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • Direct involvement with an International Organization, Board of Directors, Board Committees, Regional Liaisons, Local Chapter Officers, and Staff.
  • Gain invaluable association management experience.
  • Ability to serve and lead within Board Committees.
  • Opportunity participate in Leadership Development Training.

Additional Information:

Job Title: Student Intern

Reports To: PLS Executive Director

Employment Type: Contract

Wage: $18.50/hr

Hours: This is a contract position and work hours will vary based on Society needs and Executive Director direction.  We anticipate about 10-20 hours of work hours per month with a portion of these hours being in the evening and/or on weekends.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Typical to office environment plus bending, stooping, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
