Phi Lambda Sigma is the international pharmacy leadership society. Our mission is to support pharmacy leadership commitment by recognizing leaders and fostering leadership development.

Board Committees

Phi Lambda Sigma Committees are a wonderful opportunity to serve the Society. Our Committee Chairs and members are appointed by the Board President each year.  The committees meet to conduct business between September and April every year.  Any collegiate, faculty, or alumni member of Phi Lambda Sigma is welcome to apply to serve on a Committee. Our Committee applications are currently open! Please click HERE to be taken to our PLS Elections page for more information.

Committee Descriptions:
  • Awards Committee: The Awards Committee is primarily responsible for evaluating award nominations and providing recommendations for award recipients to the Board of Directors. Additionally, this committee is responsible for tracking and reporting awards trends, evaluating criteria and workflow for determination of awards, and implementing improvements to the awards submission and selection process. (Monthly Meeting Time: Second Thursday at 8:00 pm ET)
  • Bylaws Committee: The purpose of the Bylaws Committee is to assess proposed amendments to the Society Bylaws, ensure chapter bylaw conformity to national standards, and serve as a resource to chapters requesting chapter bylaw review.  (Monthly Meeting Time: Second Thursday at 8:00 pm ET)
  • Chapter Development Committee: This committee is dedicated to strengthening the collegiate chapters of Phi Lambda Sigma. The committee seeks to support chapters by sharing best practices and recommendations to create a consistent, unifying, quality experience for all members. (Monthly Meeting Time: First Tuesday at 7:00 pm ET)
  • International Affairs Committee: TThe International Affairs Committee (IAC) serves the purpose of building relationships with pharmacy schools outside of the United States, with the intent to establish international Phi Lambda Sigma Chapters. Members of the IAC will have the opportunity to engage in international partnership development, cross-cultural relationship building, and the advancement of pharmacy leadership at international conferences. (Monthly Meeting Time: First Thursday at 6:00 pm ET)
  • Member Engagement Committee: The member engagement committee serves to create and provide opportunities, workshops, training, and resources to engage both students and alumni PLS members with the Society. Additionally, the member engagement committee will focus on developing an improved member-transition process upon graduation, with the goal of engaging recent graduates as they transition to alumni status. (Monthly Meeting Time: First Tuesday at 7:00 pm ET)
  • Programming Committee: The Programming Committee supports the organization’s direct-to-member events and leadership development opportunities produced by PLS national committees, including but not limited to Member Engagement Committee and Chapter Development Committee. This committee will ensure that all national PLS-branded events and opportunities are in-line with our mission and support our strategic plan. This committee is directly responsible for the development and execution of the annual Leadership Summit, including theme, speaker recruitment and preparation, and delivery platform. (Monthly Meeting Time: Second Tuesday at 8 pm ET )
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Taskforce: The DEI Taskforce is an ad-hoc committee with two short-term goals: to 1) assess current-state demographics and selection criteria for PLS membership and 2) provide recommendations to the Board of Directors and PLS committees that will address and improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in membership selection criteria and the culture of the Society overall.  (Monthly Meeting Time: TBD)
  • Communications Committee: The Communications Committee (Comm Comm) assists internal and external communication efforts of the Society. The committee members are made up of liaisons from each of the other Board committees; however, Chair and Vice Chair may choose to only serve on the Communications Committee only. The Communications Chair and Vice Chair will work closely with the Society’s Executive Director and Marketing Intern to share committee updates on the Society’s various digital platforms like our bimonthly newsletter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
