This presentation will explore how the act of ‘asking’ can dismantle barriers and advance accessibility and inclusivity within healthcare and workplace environments. By embracing a mindset that values curiosity, effective communication, and an openness to risk, this presentation outlines actionable strategies for leaders and professionals to cultivate spaces where diverse abilities and perspectives are valued and integrated.
Speaker: Saley Traore- Uwalaka, PharmD, BCPS
Student pharmacists are unfairly pressured into an idea that they must be perfect to succeed. This false narrative is both dangerous and inaccurate. This session will share that success means different things to different people. Session participants will be encouraged to build their own identity and set clear goals based on their values. This way failure does not come in and disrupt their lives.

Speaker: Derek Borkowski, PharmD
In this presentation the speaker shares his leadership journey and lessons learned in developing the Pyrls.com drug reference website and mobile app, having started building it while still in pharmacy school and commercializing it as a new practitioner in community pharmacy practice. Fundamentally, the speaker views his journey as one where he, as a pharmacy student/new practitioner, identified his own problem in practice of needing better concise, practice-ready drug information and built a solution to address it. This is a process any pharmacist or pharmacy student can and should be empowered to do to solve their own problems in practice and invent the future of healthcare.

This session discusses the importance of personal transformation in leadership as well as tips for beginning that process. It also provides an opportunity for participants to actively engage in developing their own plan for transformation.

Competitive environments with high achievers are the prime breeding ground for impostor phenomenon. Females and marginalized groups are at the highest risk, for a variety of reasons. Those feeling like impostors are less likely to seek help, and have lower career satisfaction, more alienation, and higher emotional exhaustion. This session will focus on the identification of imposter phenomenon, the root causes for imposter thoughts and the development of a personal action plan.

With this knowledge, participants will then be equipped with practical strategies tailored to dismantle self-limiting thoughts and tendencies associated with the impostor phenomenon, paving the way for newfound confidence and success on their professional journey.

These important traits allow the inclusion of all team members throughout the project, including the development phase, where team buy-in is so important.
