The Society Constitution contains the specifics for the minimum membership criteria for the four established categories (Article II; page 5)
Persons to be considered for membership must have complied with the following conditions:
(a) They shall be actively involved in advancing the profession of pharmacy through demonstrated leadership in local, state, and national professional pharmacy organizations.
(b) They shall possess a high degree of professionalism upon entrance to the Society, as well as the capability to maintain this professionalism throughout their membership in the Society
Undergraduate, professional, or graduate who has completed one semester or two quarters of the first professional year of scholastic work; or equivalent; has demonstrated qualities of PLS members; and has met and continues to meet any additional eligibility requirements set out in Chapter bylaws.
Upon being awarded a terminal degree in pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences, collegiate members transition into professional members. Professional members also include those who may not have been initiated into PLS as students but have demonstrated qualities of PLS members and practice in the field of pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences.
Honorary members include persons not practicing in the fields of pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences who have demonstrated qualities of PLS members and are contributing to the profession of pharmacy
